Higher diploma program in combating terrorism

It aims to develop the capabilities of specialists in combating terrorism and extremism in all its forms and prepare security cadres capable of understanding the extent of the threat dealing with the mechanisms of newly developed extremist organizations, and training them to monitor threats using modern technological tools.

1 Special admission requirements

Obtaining a bachelor’s degree in the following fields: (military sciences, police sciences, security sciences, political and human sciences).

2 Program Goals

Deepening knowledge of advanced policies and technologies in combating terrorism and its contemporary issues.
Providing students with the knowledge and skills necessary to collect, analyze, and process data related to terrorist threats.
Preparing specialized expertise and cadres familiar with the basic knowledge of contemporary terrorism issues and its legal determinants.

3 Learning outcomes expected from the programme

Identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the counter-terrorism system and managing strategic planning for the confrontation.
Using modern methods to confront cyber terrorism and identifying extremist organizations’ strategies for recruitment and attraction.
Managing counter-terrorism operations through collecting information and the ability to produce criminal intelligence and professional analysis of information.
Distinguishing the determinants and characteristics of terrorist organizations, analyzing the extremist mentality, the approach of their leaders, their operational tactics, financing operations, and managing criminal investigations.
Familiarity with the concepts and issues of terrorism, their historical development, and the legal framework for combating terrorism at the national and international levels.

The Police Sciences Department is one of the departments of the College of Criminal Justice. It was established in response to the university's new strategy, which aims to develop the scientific, academic, and training aspects of police sciences in line with current developments. The department seeks to empower students with cognitive awareness, raise their security and police awareness, and equip them with the necessary and sufficient skills to face contemporary security challenges and threats.
